The Week dated June 3 carried in Europe at a glance a report about "Wine disaster" from Bordeaux.

It says that French viniculturists are warning of a disastrous grape harvest this year--- leading to a collapse in profits and higher prices for wine lovers.

An April freeze destroyed up to 90% of some Bordeaux vines. Bitterly cold weather sgtruck twice within a week, meaning that many fragile buds and shoots that had emerged during mild weather in March shriveled and died.

Wine-growers are now relying on the June flowering phase to save some of their crops. "Let's cross our fingers that we have another 1961, a year with a small harvest that was of a very good quality," said a representative wine grower.
