Asahi Weekly dated May 14 carried the "Essay" by Anisa Dar, with a title: Food in England and Tokyo: Don't let appearance fool you.

People have a negative opinion about food in England. "It is true that terrible food is easy to come by, but there is wonderful food, too," Dar writes.

One thing that she craves all year is a scone covered with clotted cream and a bit of jam. She recommends that travelers go to "Gastro pubs," which provide high quality food with unique twists.

What the writer likes as Japanese food is monjayaki. Although the food didn't look appealing, once she tried, it became one of her firm favorites. She concludes,"Don't let them judge food by appearance. They are sure to be won over by its superb taste!"
